Gokshura Research and Clinical StudiesResearches performed on Gokshura in Russia and Bulgaria has revealed that regular consumption of gokshura increases the levels of testosterone hormones, luteinizing hormones, estrogen and DHEA. Gokshura is effective in treating dysuria (burning / painful micturition), kidney stones and crystals in urine, urinary tract infections and kidney disorders. Independent studies have proved that Gokshura boosts the sex drive by increasing the hormones. This herb is being used in since 1970’s in Europe and Asia for improving sexual health. Testosterone (which is know for its positive role in bodybuilding, muscle strengthening and to increase libido and fertility) is increased by regular intake of Gokshura herb. Gokshura increases GnRH (gonadotropin releasing hormone) which in turn stimulates increase in FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and testosterone. The tonic properties of Gokshura are similar to that of ginseng herb. In one scientific study on adult rats in which one group of rats were given distilled water and another group was given testosterone treated and the 3rd group was given Gokshura (Tribulus) treated. Both the groups, testosterone and Gokshura treated rats depicted increase in ICP and prostate weight and also increase in mounting frequency, proves enhance in sexual behaviour. Laboratory tests have revealed that Gokshura have antibiotic and anti-tumor properties. Gokshura helps in lowering cholesterol levels in blood and have shown regulating effect on blood sugar, this has been tested out in experiments conducted in China. In one of the laboratory test, the growth of one types of liver cancer cell was inhibited by regular intake of Gokshura because of cells called saponins in it. |

In Ayurveda, Gokshura is known as effective Rasayana for rejuvenation of health and muscle strengthening. Gokshura improves urinary tract disorders by its positive effect on Vrikka (kidney). Gokshura is widely accepted in Ayurvedic medicine system for treatment of most of urinary disorders. Scientific tests have been done to test the Ayurvedic claims, for treating urolithiasis (urinary disorder) in rats and the results proved Gokshura herb was extremely effective. Gokshura cools and sooths the urinary tract membrane and also been used to removed the urinary stones and internal bleeding. Gokshura is very effective in treating cystitis, incontinence, kidney stones and impotence. In Ayurveda, Gokshura is also used for prostate gland treatment by cleansing and is a effective tonic for prostate and urinary bladder (lower abdominal organs). *
